Kyoshi Jennifer Fremon

Teaches: Children, ages 3 and up.

As Shuseki-Shihan Oliver's highest ranking female student, and current highest ranking woman in Kenshikai Karate, she has taught karate to both adults and children for many years. She created the JKM (Jump, Kick, MOVE!!!) and Pre-K(arate) programs for the UWS Kenshikai.

Fun Facts:
  • Holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
  • Before being a full time instructor, was a NYS certified Early Childhood teacher.
  • Trained and competed in gymnastics through childhood and into her teenage years.
  • Is a writer of both poetry and short stories and once had her poems published in the Journal of Asian Martial Arts.
Kyoshi Matthew Fremon

Teaches: Adults (Karate and BJJ), Children 5 and up.

Kyoshi Matthew began his training with the late Shuseki-Shihan William Oliver as a teenager. During his tenure he competed and won numerous tournaments in both point-fighting (sport karate) as well as knockdown karate. These competitions allowed him to travel to places such as Jamaica and Italy. After Shuseki-Shihan's passing, he was asked to continue the UWS Kenshikai branch, which he continues to this day.

Fun Facts:
  • Received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt from Shihan Gene Dunn and Prof. Brian Glick. (Renzo Gracie jiu-jitsu black belts)
  • Before being a full time instructor, was a website programmer (built this one).
  • Once shot a commercial for MSG defending Stephon Marbury (badly)
Senpai Adri Burton

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Purple Belt
Teaches: Children, ages 3 and up. Karate and BJJ

Adri began his karate training as a child under the late Shuseki-Shihan William Oliver. He continued his training as an adult under Kyoshi Matthew Fremon soon after the opening of the Columbus avenue dojo. He has expanded his martial arts studies to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu over the last few years and received his purple belt from Shihan Gene Dunn (Renzo Gracie Black Belt).
